Fencing 'A' DivisionsFencing is truly exciting. All the passion, drama, excitement, nail-biting tension, cheering, screaming, applause.... Woah! And I didn't even compete. CJ won a total of 1 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronzes. Whee!!!!
Excerpt 1: CJ epee guy vs VJ epee guy fighting for a place to fence in the gold/silver medal matchWhen the points were 14-14, CJ guy fleched (basically legally charged) at VJ guy. VJ guy fell. Presider gave CJ guy his second yellow card (he had his 1st one for faulty equiptment). Like soccer, this is equal to a red card, and a point for the opponent. Since fencing matches end when 9 mins are up or when a fencer reached 15 points (whichever comes 1st), VJ guy won. CJ guy had to settle for bronze.
Excerpt 2: CJ epee guy vs the same VJ epee guy in the gold/silver medal matchCJ guy had leg cramps. But he hung on till he finally passed out from pain. So, VJ guy won because CJ guy passed out. CJ guy had to settle for silver.
Excerpt 3: CJ epee girl vs national epee fencer fighting for a place in the gold/silver medal matchCJ girl had leg cramps. She hung on, but lost in the end. May I metion that she was on the same piste (strip of metal that fencers fence on) and same side as the CJ guy who got cramps. It was also at about the same time. How scarry is that? The presider had the cheek to comment, "How come all the CJ people all like that one?" Urgh!
Excerpt 4: CJ epee guys team vs VJ epee guys team in gold/silver medal match
This is my favourite cuz it was the most exciting and tension-filled. We started out behing the VJ team in terms of points, but we caught up. Woosh! In the final few seconds, the score was 44-43 in CJ's favour. Then at the 3rd last second, the 2 fencers clashed, so the bout was halted. To most people, 3 seconds is only a super short while. But in fencing, it's enough to score a point, which would then tie the game, resulting in a tie-breaker. So we screamed for the last CJ fencer to hold the lead. And he did! YAY!!!
Excerpt 5: CJ guys foil team vs RJ guys foil team in silver madal match
Again, we were behind the RJ team. But in the 2nd last bout, we caught up, and even had a lead over RJ. But in the final bout, RJ caught up and the score was 44-43 to RJ's favour. We had less than 5 seconds to at least tie the game so we can try and win in the tie-breaker. Unfortunately, we didn't.
A job well done to all those who went for 'A' divs.
CJ had the biggest crowd of supporters. We cheered, clapped and screamed the loudest. Even when we were on the losing end. I think we irritated some presiders. But it's not our fault the we have a strong school spirit. I'm loving fencing more and more!
Adlin: Don't be too upset about the lousy days. Life's like that. I have them too. If you need a listening ear, call or email me k? To the person who stole your mp3, he really is a git, on the same level as lck (currently, that's a greatest insult that I can give anyone). Miss you loads.
